Earl Grey Hot Chocolate
Don’t tread on my hot chocolate parade: this is the best recipe that exists for ketogenic earl grey hot chocolate and I won’t hear anything else. When I spent a couple of weeks in New Orleans, I was introduced to the London Fog—Earl Grey tea with cream, vanilla, and honey—and it blew my socks off. Sure, my cup had RumChata in it, which may have added to the splendor, but now, every time I smell Earl Grey I swear I can hear the distant sound of jazz at Maison Bourbon.
Ingredient List:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
½ ounce organic dark chocolate (at least 73% cacao)
1 tablespoon organic heavy (whipping) cream
1 Earl Grey tea bag
Serves 1
To make the Earl Grey Hot Chocolate:
- In a small pot, bring the almond milk to a steaming simmer over medium heat. Stir in the chocolate until it is dissolved completely and smooth, about 3 minutes.
- Pour the hot chocolate into a mug and stir in the heavy cream. Add the tea bag to the mug and steep it for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and enjoy.
RECIPE TIP:
High-quality organic chocolate is less likely to include fillers, and you can find organic cacao blends that are naturally low carb. Skip sugar-free chocolate, as it’s full of ingredients you can’t pronounce.
